Electronics Test Engineer

Job Description

Role: Electronics Test Engineer\n\nLocation: Exeter\n\nSalary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience\n\nOur client is looking for an Electronics Test Engineer to support both product development and quality assurance across a range of electronic products.\n\nWorking with low-voltage systems such as wireless charging, USB power, and motor-driven devices, you'll help ensure performance and reliability in demanding environments.\n\nThis varied role offers a 50/50 split between development and testing, perfect for someone who enjoys both building and troubleshooting.\n\nResponsibilities include:\n\nProduct Development (50%)\n\nSupport development of new and existing electronic products\nBuild, modify, and test prototypes and pre-production units\nCarry out functional and performance testing on PCBs and assemblies\nAnalyse electronic circuits including: \nPower regulation and protection\nUSB and wireless charging systems\nMotor control and feedback circuits\nReview designs against standards.\nInterpret schematics, PCB layouts, and bills of materials\nIdentify design issues and support continuous improvement\nCollaborate with engineering teams on product iterationsQuality Assurance & Testing (50%)\n\nPerform verification and validation testing against product requirements\nConduct testing on production units and incoming electronic assemblies\nInvestigate failures from: \nProduction testing\nEnvironmental and endurance testing\nCustomer returns\nCarry out component- and PCB-level fault finding\nIdentify root causes and support corrective actions (CAPA)\nSupport pre-compliance testing activities (e.g. EMC investigations)\nEnsure all testing and failures are clearly documented and traceable \n\nSkills and experience:\n\nStrong practical experience with low-voltage electronic systems\nProven experience in PCB-level fault finding and diagnostics\nBackground in testing power electronics, charging circuits, or control systems\nConfident using test equipment including: \nMultimeters\nOscilloscopes\nPower supplies and electronic loads\nAbility to diagnose issues down to component level\nStrong technical reporting and documentation skills\nExperience within marine, automotive, or rugged electronics environments is advantageous \n\nWR Engineering are the #1 recruitment partner for engineering, manufacturing & technical sales jobs.
